Prisoner Attempts To Escape Hospital In Kingston

 




A prisoner who was un-cuffed from a hospital bed in the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) after he claimed he needed to use the bathroom, attempted to flee the facility but ended up being shot by the officer on duty.
On Friday morning at KPH in Kingston, Jamaica, a man who was in police custody claimed he needed to use the bathroom. Reports from the Superintendent of the Horizon Adult Remand Centre state that the handcuff was removed from the prisoner, which was when he attempted to escape.
However, the correctional officer on duty shot the prisoner while subduing him.
Further reports from the Department of Correctional Service (DCS) confirmed that the prisoner currently remains hospitalized while he is treated.
Meanwhile, the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched an investigation into the incident.
