A four-month pregnant woman was gruesomely murdered with her common-law husband while they were still in bed at a home in Chico Lane in Norwood, St James. The couple was reportedly fatally shot by armed men who invaded their house on Saturday.
The deceased couple has been identified as Suwayne Pennicott, also called “Su Su”, and Barrington Clarke, who also goes by “Peppa”.
According to reports, the home invasion allegedly happened around 3:50 am when the gunmen kicked down the door and opened fire on the couple, who was later pronounced dead.
An investigation has commenced into the double homicide that reportedly took place within a section of the community that has been under the Zones of Special Operations since last year.
The double murder which has shaken the community has also left the relatives of the deceased distraught. A relative of the pregnant woman told the press on the scene that her daughter, who is a mother of four boys, was praying to give birth to a girl baby.
“She was four months pregnant and she always tell me say a one girl she want. She have four boys and she need a girl,” the family member said. The relative also informed the press that Pennicott was a hardworking mother and she had recently paid her 11-year-old son’s graduation fee.
